Stance Chair | Justnotnormal
Stance chair by justnotnormal. Where form meets function, you’ll find stance. This timeless chair takes its cue from Danish Modern masters, who seamlessly blended beautiful organic forms with functionality. It’s therefore no coincidence that the scale of their furniture was in harmony with the scale of the human body. Stance’s lines also mimic the gently sculptural forms of iconic furniture craftsman, Sam Maloof. Like a Maloof masterpiece, stance’s right angles soften to become rounded angles, flowing naturally into another as if they were never apart, creating an enduring oneness. Like its predecessors, each material in stance was carefully chosen for its unique, natural, organic qualities. But stance isn’t your grandmother’s 1950s’ teak or walnut chair. What brings this Danish Modern triumphantly into the 21st Century is its ultramodern finishes. One stand-alone stealthy version features a flat black matte frame masking the traditional natural wood, and a contrasting glossy lacquered bent ply seat faced with black patent leather. The other standout version starts out innocently with a smooth natural walnut frame, then suddenly grabs and holds your attention with a glossy fuchsia bent ply seat covered with hairy hide. The result is a dramatic contrast in colors and an intriguing juxtaposition of textures. In both cases, the shape subtly says Danish Modern, but the look shouts stance!
