Lexus LF-LC Concept for the 2012 Sydney Auto Show

As it turns out, what Lexus meant to say when it announced back in August that it plans to reveal a “further development of a vehicle shown at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year” at the Australian Auto Show in Sydney, is that it would display the LF-LC in a different shade. Lexus tells us that the LF-LC Blue concept’s new hue is inspired by the glossy base color found in the naturally occurring semi-precious opal stone of outback Australia. Other than that, the only other visible different between the Detroit Show’s red-bodied concept has to do with the interior colors as Lexus combined the blue exterior shade with very light beige leathers on the seats and the door panels.

The sleek looking sports coupe makes use of carbon fibre and aluminium alloy materials to achieve a light body mass. The front-engined, rear-wheel drive model features the automaker’s Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive system, which is said to mate a powerful yet efficient Atkinson cycle combustion engine to an advanced high-energy battery pack. Combined, the LF-LC Blue concept’s gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain develops 499hp (372kW or 506PS).
